Local Authority Planners gain professional development from Academy

The Academy were asked by Bromsgrove and Redditch Councils to develop and deliver a bespoke professional development day in February 2023 for Planners, Councillors and other Council staff connected with the local planning process.

The programme included highlighting links between Secured by Design and the local planning processes and retrospective measures to the existing built environment to reduce crime and antisocial behaviour. The role of the Designing Out Crime Officer was also a hot topic covered by local DOCOs from the local West Mercia Police team. 

The event engaged the audience from start to finish, and the Council Community Safety Projects Officers reported that feedback from attendees was very positive, including from the Councillor Portfolio holder for Planning and Chair of the Planning Committee for Bromsgrove District Council.
